Introduction
That which creates distress to the body or mind is called Shalya. Shalyatantra is the branch which deals with the technique by which Shalya is removed.
The department of Shalya Tantra imparts quality patient care, teaching and training students concerning surgery and para surgical procedures.
Specialized treatment is provided for Arsha and Bhagandara with Kshara Karma and Kshara Sutra therapy, Gridhrasi, Sandhivata, Kadara, Vatakantaka, Charmakeela, Avabahuka, Tennis Elbow etc. by Agnikarma, Raktamokshana, Marma Chikitsa therapies. The Department also provides treatment for chronic non healing ulcers (Vrana), peripheral vascular disorders by Jalaukavacharana method (leech therapy). Treatment of Bhagna (Fractures and dislocations), Mutra Ashmari (Urinary Calculi), Pittashaya Shotha (Cholecystitis), Pittashaya Ashmari (Cholelithiasis), and Podiatry (foot disorders) are provided here.
This department has its own OPD (General Shalya, Anorectal & Orthopedic), IPD, Minor Operation theatre (Sastra Karma, Kshara Karma, Kshara Sutra, Agnikarma & Raktamokshana Units) and Major Operation theatre.
All the patients are given proper treatment under out-patient and in-patient department. Department of Shalya Tantra has carried out various camps regarding Ayurvedic surgery.
Special techniques of Parasurgical procedures like Kshara Karma, Kshara Sutra, Agnikarma, Raktamokshana, Jalaukavacharana, Siravyadhana etc have been adopted to treat many ailments.
