Dravyaguna Vijnana (Ayurvedic Pharmacology) is one of the important branches of Ayurveda. Dravya is one among the chikitsa chatushpadas explained in Ayurveda. Therefore the knowledge about Dravya is very essential. The Department deals with medicinal plants of Ayurvedic Classics, their identification, properties and therapeutic uses. The department also deals with the collection and preservation of various raw materials of plant origin.
Department has a well-established library with books related to Dravyaguna, Modern Pharmacology, Botany and other allied subjects; a spacious and full-fledged laboratory with equipment’s like microscope, filed magnifier, watch glass, reagents etc., a drug museum with dry specimens & charts for the use of students and a well maintained herbal garden with important medicinal plants for the practical demonstration.
