AN INSIGHT TO AGADA TANTRA:

     Agada tantra is one among the 8 branches of Ayurveda which handles subjects including visha chikitsa , Forensic Science, Jurisprudence, Acts & rules related to medical field Professional Ethical aspects, Zoonotic and vector borne diseases, Impacts of air-water-soil pollutions, Medical records. Management, Forensic psychiatry etc., which is included in third year undergraduate B.A.M.S. syllabus. Department of Agada tantra, Nandha Ayurveda College and Hospital, Erode is a full fledged actively functioning Department which aims to fulfil the need of present and nearby future, to rekindle the knowledge of visha chikitsa and to recoup the clinical oriented visha chikitsa practices with a strong academical knowledge, the Department of Agada Tantra in Nandha Ayurveda College is formed in the year 2021 with a vision to expand the academic area on snake bite and other toxicology managements . Agadatantra is a clinical branch of Ayurveda dealing with diseases related to poisoning, bite and sting management, skin diseases etc.. With Outpatient and Inpatient department,

We mainly focus on areas of

– Insect bites and sting posions

– Non healing ulcer with history of snake bite

– Cases with history of cumulative toxicity

– Chronic allergic conditions

– Chronic and acute skin disorders with history of poisoning

– Acute and chronic food poisoning

MISSION:

     We seek to provide excellent theoretical, clinical & practical education with a view of shaping efficient physicians and researchers in the field of Agadatantra, who are rational and morally upright.

VISION:

1) To make each of our budding doctors well versed in handling the cases coming under Agada Tantra with reasonable skills

2) Moulding good practitioners with contemporary knowledge in Forensic science & Medical Jurisprudence experts in the field of Ayurveda to

    regulate and handle legal aspects of medicine and to follow the code of medical ethics

3) To guide the students to fulfill the statutory requirements of the medical profession

SERVICES PROVIDED:

1) The department library facilitates inquisitive students to explore the branch of Agada Tantra to the fullest as it contains vivid collection of

    manuscript copies of visha chikitsa textbooks.

2) Our department offers a Forensic and toxicology museum which is equipped with preserved specimens of toxic, anti toxic plants and

    poisonous and nonpoisonous creatures, toxic and antitoxic raw drug specimens, chemicals,acids and alkalies, various models of weapon

    sets, along with sufficient and more charts and models.

3) Students will be bestowed with opportunities for field visits to meet eminent visha vaidyas.

4) One week Court Postings to observe medico legal cases.

5) Preparation of few ayurvedic formulation which are used in poisoning cases.

6) Basic test carried out to identify adulterants in food.

7) We have a herbal garden which is equipped with toxic and antitoxic live plant species.
